Sales of the Nintendo Switch 2 have reportedly broken records in France, nearly doubling launch sales figures of the PS5 with over 200,000 units sold.
French ccontent creator and gaming market specialist GyoJvfr took to Twitter/X to share that the Nintendo Switch 2 has already sold more than 200,000 units in France 4 days after its release, which is nearly twice the launch sales figures of the PS5. The latter was the record holder for highest launch game console sales in the country with 107,000 units, around 17,000 units more than the PS4 during its respective launch. However, records are meant to be broken, and the Nintendo Switch 2 has done so very decisively.

Furthermore, the gaming market specialist revealed that the Nintendo Switch 2, along with its games and accessories, has generated a total of 130 million Euros only 4 days after its launch on June 5, 2025. As per them, around 70% of the console’s sales come from the Mario Kart World bundle. They also hared that only 3 to 5% of Nintendo Switch 2 buyers did not buy Mario Kart World, implying that the game has an extremely impressive attach rate of 95% or higher.
Meanwhile, Nintendo had made approximately 500,000 Switch 2 units available for pre-order alone on its My Nintendo store in Japan. Inside-games.jp had conducted a survey to gather the percentage of individuals who succeeded in placing a pre-order for the Nintendo Switch 2 out of the 2.2 million or so who had registered for the opportunity on the My Nintendo store in Japan. As per the results derived from the large number of responses, around 1/4 of the respondents succeeded in winning the lottery sale, indicating that the number of overall applicants on the My Nintendo store were likely 4 times the size of those who managed to pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2. Using this ratio as an estimate, it’s possible to derive that the those who succeeded in the lottery sale via the My Nintendo store in Japan were 4 times less than the 2.2 million applicants, resulting in the figure of 550,000.
